Welcome Letter
Congratulations! You have successfully enrolled in online courses at Bay Mills Community College for the 2012 summer semester. Please read the following message carefully, as it contains information that will be very important for your success in our online college courses.
Your billing statement will be available electronically at https://empowerweb.bmcc.edu on or before the first day of classes. It is your responsibility to access your billing statement online. All student bills are to be paid in full by May 10th.
FIRST TIME MOODLE USERS: To get started, please go to http://bmcc.edu/summer-2012/login/index.php. Your login information for moodle will be identical to your student records login information.
Online semesters last for 15 weeks. The summer 2012 semester will run from May 7, 2012 to August 19, 2012.
When you log into the online course homepage, you will see a list of the courses in which you are enrolled. Clicking a class link will open the course homepage. Please print the syllabus so that you can refer to it throughout the course. The syllabus constitutes a contract between you and BMCC, and you will be responsible for all information your instructor has posted on the syllabus. Please check the syllabus to find instructor contact information.
You should always keep a copy of everything that you submit to the instructor until you have received your final grade. Sometimes things get lost so keep copies of all documents including emails. Use a USB flash drive.
DROP/WITHDRAWAL POLICY: Students who officially drop from class(s) prior to the last day of the official drop period of the semester (May 18th) qualify for a tuition/fee refund of 100% (less the non refundable registration fee). No refunds will be granted after the last official drop date for refund. See Financial Aid Refund Policy: http://www.bmcc.org/accounting/tuition_refund.html.
To drop a class you will need to log into student records and click delete next to the class. This option is only available during the 10 day drop period, after that you will need to officially withdraw.
A student finding it necessary to withdraw from courses after the drop deadline must email lparish@bmcc.edu. Failure to do so is not considered an official withdrawal and will result in failing grades in that course(s). The deadline to withdraw is July 27, 2012.
