Safe Active Play Video
This training video distributed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is designed to teach caregivers and child care programs how to create safe play environments.

Active play for children naturally involves some risk, but when play results in many minor injuries or could produce serious or life-threatening injures, the play may be taking place in a hazardous setting. This video will help programs identify and remove play area hazards and develop healthy alternatives.

Based on the National Playground Safety Institute's "Dirty Dozen" list of the 12 most serious hazards commonly found on playgrounds, the video provides detailed, specific information about how to: use appropriate protective surfacing under equipment, both indoors and outdoors; identify protrusion and entanglement hazards; use age-appropriate equipment; identify pinch, shear and crush points; follow a regular inspection and maintenance schedule; and much more.

The video, developed by Video Active Productions, was reviewed by the Head Start Bureau, NAEYC, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Society of Testing and Materials, and SafeKids.
