Family Communications, Inc., and early childhooe publishing company, has recieved a grant to produce eight training modules for child care providers as part of its MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD Child Care Partnership, called "Taking Good Care of You." These modules will cover health, safety, and nutrition issues while emphasizing the role self-esteem plays in healthy physical and emotional growth. The modules will be available in the fall of 1996.
"Training is such an essential part of quality child care," says Fred Rogers, "and we're grateful to be able to continue producing materials that help support child care providers in their important work with children. This project allows us to extend our messages about self-esttem into the specific areas os health and nutrition-then we are likely to want to take care of ourselves."
The materials will include messages from Fred Rogers and ppropriate segments from MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD. ( A new week of MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD currently in production for an August 1996 premeir contains a segment where Mister Rogers gets an immunization.) Two issues of "Around the Neighborhood" newsletter for child care providers will feature health and safety issues and be coordinated with the release of the training materials.
A national advisory board had been convened and Board members include Robin Broato, halth Services Specialist, Head Start Bureau, and Alfred Flores, Head Start trainer and Research Administrator, Texas Tech University.
