New Director of Health and Disabilities Services for the Head Start Bureau
Mireille (Mimi) B. Kanda is a child and women's health advocate who has served vulnerable children and their families for more than two decades.In her newly appointed position as Director of Health and Disabilities Services for the Head Start Bureau, Dr. Kanda is excited about the opportunity of devoting her attention to the nation's vulnerable children on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Kanda is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health.
In 1989 and 1993, she was the recipient of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner 's Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service in the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Dr. Dr. Kanda is active with many civic and professional organizations that work toward improving the well-being of children and families across the nation. She brings to her new position a wealth of experience and interest in the welfare of children and families. The Head Start Bureau extends a warm welcome!
