GENERAL
All Bay Mills Community College virtual college students who enroll in Math (Algebra) courses must take a math placement test as part of the college registration process. Students who want to take MA111 (Business Math) must also take a placement test. The purpose of this testing is to ensure that a student is placed into the best Math course for his or her level of ability and background. To help you pick the correct level of Math to enroll in, BMCC provides a series of Math Placement Tests based on the courses offered in our College. Bay Mills Community College is dedicated to the success of all students and being properly placed in courses that will aid your academic achievement is essential.
Placement testing is also available for courses that require various levels of English skills.
Math courses offered are listed below, along with their objectives. To view the objectives for any course, click on the appropriate outline link below.
At the end of each objective is a link that allows you to return to this Home Page, look at the other course objectives, or write the placement test for that particular course. It is recommended that after you look at the course objectives for each course, then write the test which you feel is most appropriate for your present level, then work up or down from there. You are not restricted to writing just one test.
WRITING A PLACEMENT TEST
In order to write a placement test, you will need to acquire a password which you can get from Laura Parish at lparish@bmcc.edu. There is no charge for the testing service.
After completing the Placement Testing, you will be notified by the virtual college of your achievement at that level. Based on your success, the college will recommend whether you should enroll in particular course,or take another test at a different level. Once you enroll in a course, your instructor will monitor the first few lessons very closely and will be in contact with you to determine if the placement was correct.
