Course Objectives In relationship with the college mission and objectives to provide Native American Tribes of Michigan and their surrounding community with educated and trained human resources and to prepare and encourage students to pursue further education, at the end of this course the student will be able to perform all of the following objectives: To add, subtract, multiply and divide rational numbers using the order of operations agreement To simplify variable expressions of the first degree To translate verbal expressions in to variable expressions To solve equations of the form ax + b + 0, x + a = b, and ax + b = cx + d
To solve uniform motion problems To perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division operations on polynomials, particularly in the first and second degrees To factor polynomials, particularly in the second degree To solve word problems related to all these objectives
Disability Related Accommodation If you have a need for a disability related accommodation or service, please inform me. Reasonable accommodations will be provided if the request is made in a timely manner, with appropriate documentation, in accordance with the Federal, State and College guidelines
Native Culture Where possible, application assignments will relate to Native American Studies
Attendance Policy
Attendance for MA101 on-line course means doing the course work on a regular basis and completing the tests at the end of each lesson. Since there are no classes as such, you are expected to complete the course in a maximum of 15 weeks from the time you receive your password. This works out to an average pace of one chapter (one lesson) every week including the mid-term and final exam. Since everybody learns at a different rate, then each one of you will proceed at a different pace. Regular progress is expected and the instructor will contact you if your progress seems to be unusually slow.
At the mid point of the course (after the eighth week), BMCC requires that you be dropped from the course if you have not completed half of the assignments. You will receive a warning email from me. If you decide to drop, or are dropped, you will receive a "W" on your transcript and you will not be refunded any tuition money.
If you can work faster, that's great. If you are experiencing difficulty with this pace due to illness or any other valid reason, please contact the instructor as soon as possible
Plagiarism and Cheating The instructor reserves the right to fail any student for cheating on any assignment or plagiarizing (copying) the work of others. The BMCC Administrative board may also discipline students who plagiarize or cheat.
