COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide an introduction and investigation into the foundations and principles of physical fitness and health. Fundamental theory of the psychological and physiological basis of physical fitness will be presented and discussed, as well as topics and issues relevant to the broad areas of health and wellness. Each student will be given the opportunity to develop a personal wellness program based on information obtained through class. Prerequisite: none.

FINAL PAPER:

EVALUATIONS:
There will be a 10 point quiz at the end of each chapter.
The final paper will be worth 100 points.
Each lab assignment will be worth 25 points.

If there is a possible of 400 points and a student has earned 343, that number is divided by 400, which would be 85.75%, giving the student a final grade of an B.


A = 95-100% C = 74-76%
A-= 90-94% C-= 70-73%
B+= 87-89% D+= 67-69%
B = 84-86%D = 64-66%
B-=80-83%D-=60-63%
C+=77-79%F = 00-59%

LATE ASSIGNMENTS AND EXAMS:
Students are expected to turn in their assignments on time. All tests and assignments are due as scheduled in the syllabus. Late assignments and tests will be subject to a 10% grade reduction; also assignments and tests more than one week late will not be accepted for a grade at all. The final paper is due during chapter 15 and cannot be made up without prior approval from the instructor.

PLAGIARISM:
Whenever another writer’s words or materials or ideas are “borrowed” without proper credit or acknowledgement, plagiarism occurs. If you paraphrase another’s ideas or use a quote directly, be sure you name the source. Turning in someone else’s work as if it was your own is beyond plagiarism – it is cheating.

TRANSFERABILITY:
Bay Mills Community College participates in the Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions officers (MACRO) Agreement. This course fits into the MACRO Agreement. It is always wise, however, to check with the college or university you intend to transfer to, in order to make absolutely sure that the school and program will accept this course with full transfer credit.
