Course Description: This course will introduce students to various literature genres and developmentally appropriate ways to bring literature into a classroom. The course work will include identifying and evaluating published literature for use with young children.
Course Objectives:
- Identify and classify eight genres of literature.
- Define the criteria for the evaluation of literature.
- Produce teaching activities to integrate literature in the classroom
Course Policies:
Assignments are due weekly. Assignments not submitted weekly will receive 2 points deductions for each day past the due date. Students must complete 14 assignments and 1 final. Assignments will be graded on content, grammar and spelling. Each question will have the point value and scoring criteria defined. Each assignment is worth 50 points; scores will be reported to the student on the assignment response
There is not a chat room for this course; chats will be individualized for each student. Each assignment will receive a response from the instructor within 3 days of the assignment due date. If clarification or further discussion of your assignment is needed, it will be so noted on the response.
Assignments must be submitted using proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. Respond to essays or short answer questions with complete sentences. College level writing will be expected. Points will be deducted for using e-mail shorthand, incomplete sentences and inaccurate information.
Assignments are to be submitted via the Internet in a word document, to the instructors e-mail address. If you have technical problems, please notify me immediately, my e-mail address and home phone are located on the top of this page.
