COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course provides students with an overview of the issues and requirements surrounding facilities, materials, equipment, and transportation in Head Start Programs and other Early Childhood Programs, and provides information for locating resources that will assist program managers with meeting these requirements. Included is a review of topics such as environmental health code (I.H.S.), PRISM, licensing regulations, and space requirements.COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the course the student will have demonstrated:
- knowledge and skills downloading Acrobat Reader and sections of the Head Start Performance Standards
- installing PRISM software to study how centers are evaluated
- posting best practices for emergency drills for their Head Start Centers
- sharing forms that are required for the documentation of regulations
- sharing written documentation for policies and plans
- evaluating a playground
- a knowledge of section 1310 of the Head Start Performance Standards
