Objectives:
- Students will learn why effective planning is essential in the development of budgets.
- Students will describe who the key stakeholders are in budget planning and development.
- Students will be able to describe the differences between different budget styles.
- Students will be able to identify terms associated with fiscal management.
- Students will be able to identify the major areas of the balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Students will be introduced to different types of funding sources.
- Students will develop a mission statement, goals, and objectives that will guide their budget development.
- Students will be able to identify and define cost principles, allowable, allocable, and reasonable costs.
- Students will develop an annual budget and cash flow statement.

There are 15 reading assignments, 12 quizzes,1 homework assignment, 2 worksheets and a final examination. It is important that you complete the assignments in order. The quizzes are usually essay questions with a minimum word count required for each essay. When submitting your essay answers, use good grammar and check your spelling. When you have completed your quizzes, you need to submit them to the instructor by e-mail. The two worksheets have been created in Word and Excel. If you do not have access to these two programs, you will need to make arrangements with the instructor so that you may complete them in another format and submit through the U.S. mail or fax.Evaluation:
Quizzes: 35%

Final Examination: 25%Grading Scale:
A = 94-100% A- = 90-93% B+ = 87-89% B = 84-86% B- = 80-83% C+ = 77-79% C = 74-76% C- = 70-74% D+ = 67-69% D = 64-66% D- = 60-44% F+ = 00-59% Students who fail to submit assignments within the required 15 weeks will receive 0 points (F) for each missed assignment. It is important that you make yourself familiar with BMCC's policies including the on-line course drop policy.
Instructor Availability:
Communication will be through email. I have listed my telephone number if you would like to call with your questions and/or concerns. I do work another job during the day, so most of my email communication and all of my telephone contact with students will be in the evening and on the weekends. If I have to leave town, I will give you at least 48 hours notice of my departure and return dates. I will do my best to respond to any email within 48 hours or less.
Plagiarism and Cheating: The instructor reserves the right to fail any student for cheating on any assignment or plagiarizing the work of others. The BMCC Administrative board may discipline students who cheat or plagiarize.
