COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Parents as Partners teaches students to work with parents in decision making and how to involve parents in the overall Head Start Program or other Early Childhood Education Program.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- Students will demonstrate skills in communicating with parents during the decision making process.
- Students will explain techniques to involve parents in program decision making.
- Students will demonstrate an understanding of the parent involvement requirements in the Head Start Program, which can be applied to any ECE Program or Child Care setting.
- Students will develop methods to involve parents in program activities and in the education of their children.
- Students will develop methods and strategies for communicating with parents.
- Students will demonstrate ability to engage and effectively involve parents in the program.
TRANSFER POTENTIAL:Bay Mills Community College is a fully accredited institution. The credits earned in this course may be applicable to an Associates in Arts degree in Families and Children offered by other institutions. Every college sets its own transfer policies. - 7 quizzes, 20 points each for a total of 140 points
- Lesson assignments, see grade page for values - total of 290 points.
- Papers 3 @ 60 points = 180 points.
- Extra Credit Opportunities - see grade page for values - 30 points possible
- Mid-term 50 points
- Final 250 points
