Course Objective:
Macroeconomics is concerned with the behavior of the economy as a whole. In this course, we will explore the construction of theories that explain and predict variations in aggregative variables that occur on a national level, such as GNP, inflation and unemployment, the general price level, fiscal policy, interest rates, growth rates, and the exchange rate, and the Federal Reserve. Hardware and Software required:
Internet access and a browser such as Netscape 4-- the browser must be Java-capable and have Java enabled.
Course Overview:
Upon completion of this course the student will have demonstrated:
- A basic knowledge of Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply.
- Knowledge on how GDP is used to measure the economic performance of the Country.
- Familiarity with some basic macroeconomic data, with an emphasis on the U.S. economy.
- Knowledge of some standard Neoclassical and Keynesian comparative statistics.
- Exploration of some institutional background, raise some basic questions of method, and motivate some basic behavioral equations used in macroeconomic modeling.
- Knowledge of some implications of interest rates and growth rates for the behavior of debt.
- An understanding of the different types of unemployment.
- The ability to describe the organizational structure of the Federal Reserve System.
- The knowledge to present a public goods argument in order to justify government spending.

Grading Policy:
All assignments are to be completed by the student. Grades will be posted using your initials and four digits as identification. Grades will be established using an average of the assignments shown on your grades page.
Grading and Evaluation:
A = 94 - 100% C = 74 - 76% A- = 90 - 93% C- = 70 - 73% B+ = 87 - 89% D+ = 67 - 69% B = 84 - 86% D = 64 - 66% B- = 80 - 83% D- = 60 - 63% C+ = 77 - 79% F = 00 - 59% Grades of incomplete will be given under exceptional circumstances, and only if the student has completed 70% of the course requirements with an average grade of C or better.Grammar Requirement:
All written work will be graded for both form and content.
